PC Beats Fairfield, 5 Friars in Double Figures
Cotton, Providence defeat Fairfield 78-69
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Bryce Cotton scored 24 points and handed out seven assists, Tyler Harris added 16 points and Providence never trailed on the way to beating Fairfield 78-69 Friday afternoon.
Fresh off being named to the all-tournament team at the Paradise Jam, Harris continued his strong play by hitting all eight of his free-throw attempts against the Stags (1-6). He missed just one of his five attempts from the field. Harris has now scored 10 or more points in six of PC's eight games.
Providence (7-1) placed five players in double figures. Kadeem Batts contributed 13 points and eight rebounds while LaDontae Henton finished with 12 points and seven boards.
Fairfield, which trailed by as many as 19 points in the first half, received 23 points from Marcus Gilbert and Maurice Barrow had 20.
This was the 38th all-time meeting between the two New England schools with Providence holding a 33-5 advantage.
