PC Defenseman Jacob Bryson Signs With Buffalo Sabres

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College defenseman Jacob Bryson (London, Ontario) has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres, forgoing his final year of collegiate eligibility. Bryson will report to the Rochester Americans (AHL) on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the season with his entry-level contract starting in the 2019-20 season.
Bryson recently completed his junior season with the Friars, earning Second Team Hockey East All-Star honors after recording 28 points on four goals and 24 assists in 42 games and serving as a tri-captain. Bryson set new career highs in both assists and points in 2018-19 and recorded an assist in all three NCAA Tournament games to help lead the Friars to a Frozen Four appearance and program’s sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Selected by the Sabres in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Bryson was a two-time recipient of Hockey East’s Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award in 2018 and 2019 and was named a CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American at the conclusion of the 2018 season. He finished his collegiate career having recorded 73 points (11-62-73) in 121 games. Bryson was also a Chi Alpha Sigma inductee, awarded to a student-athlete who holds a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 through their fifth semester.
