PC Hockey Friars Fall At Minnesota-Duluth

Minn. Duluth beats Providence 7-1 for sweep

      DULUTH, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota-Duluth spotted Providence an
early lead before rolling to a 7-1 win over the Friars in men's
college hockey on Saturday.
      Tim Schaller's goal just 58 seconds into the game was the only
scoring by Providence (1-2-0), which also lost 5-3 to the Bulldogs
(3-0-1) on Friday.
      UMD answered Providence's early goal with three in the first
period and two more in the second.
      Jack Connolly and Kyle Schmidt had two goals apiece. Connolly
also had two assists for a four-point night.
      J.T. Brown had a goal and two assists and Justin Fontaine two
assists for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Friars 41-18.
      Bulldogs goalie Aaron Crandall made 17 saves and Justin Gates
and Alex Beaudry combined for 34 stops for Providence.
