PC Signs 6-10 Member of the French National Team

BASKETBALL STUDENT-ATHLETE ALEXANDRE GAVRILOVIC

SIGNS A NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT TO ATTEND PROVIDENCE COLLEGE

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence College men's basketball coach Keno Davis announced on May 19, 2010 that student-athlete Alexandre Gavrilovic (Strasbourg, France) signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2010.  Gavrilovic is a member of the Under-20 French National Basketball Team.

 

Gavrilovic, a 6-foot-10-inch, 235-pound forward played for IMG Academy this season where he was coached by Dan Barto.  At IMG, he played 67 games against some of the best prep school competition in the country.  IMG Academy has had more than 55 players earn Division I scholarships since 2001.  Former Friar Ryan Gomes spent time working out at the IMG Basketball Academy prior to the 2005 NBA Draft.     

Prior to attending IMG Academy, he played for the Strasbourg team in the A Division of the French National Basketball League. 

 

“Alexandre will be a strong addition to our program,” Davis said.  “He has a combination of size, skill and intelligence.  Alexandre can hit jump shots as well as mix it up on the boards.”

 

Gavrilovic joins Gerard Coleman (West Roxbury, Mass.), Ron Giplaye (Lowell, Mass.), Joe Young (Houston, Texas) and Brice Kofane (Yaounde, Cameroon) as newcomers to the Friar roster who will attend Providence College beginning in September 2010.  Each of these student-athletes has signed a NLI to attend Providence College.
