PC Women Beaten by DePaul at Annual Pink Out at Alumni Hall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women’s basketball team fell to DePaul, 103-66, at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Freshman guard Alison Lewis led four Friars in double figures with 15 points. Twelve of her 15 points came in the second half. DePaul was led by Brittany Hrynko’s 29 points and she also recorded seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
DePaul generated a 19-point lead in the first half (34-15) with 7:58 on the clock. Providence responded with a 14-2 run to cut the deficit to seven (36-29) with 5:28 remaining. The Blue Demons pushed their lead to 17 with a 10-0 run, but Providence countered to get within 48-38 with 21 seconds left in the half. DePaul closed the half with a three pointer from Ashton Millender to take a 51-38 lead into the break.
In the second half, Providence got as close as 10 points (56-46) at the 16:51 mark, but DePaul’s lead ballooned to 20 (66-46) with 14:23 on the clock and remained in firm control the rest of the way.
Turnovers played a major factor in the game, as Providence committed a season-high 39 miscues and DePaul turned the ball over 20 times. DePaul out-scored Providence 53-14 in points off of turnovers.
Providence shot the ball well from the field, hitting 47.5-percent of its shots (29-61). DePaul finished the game at 44.3-percent (39-88).
Chanise Baldwin finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Evi Iiskola and Tori Rule also recorded 10 points each for Providence. Lewis and Karin Robinson each hauled in seven boards.
