PD: Alvarez H.S. student under investigation over “threatening” video

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police are investigating a threatening video posted to YouTube by a Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School student.

Police said they discovered Wednesday, as they were investigating that video and the boy who posted it, there was an AR-15 in that student’s home.

Providence school and law enforcement officials have not commented on the details of the video, which was posted to YouTube Tuesday night.

“Due to the swift actions of PPD, in collaboration with the resource officers at the school, the weapon has been secured and there remains no threat to Alvarez or any Providence Public School. We take matters like this very seriously and given national trends, investigate every credible threat thoroughly,” said police department spokesperson Lindsay Lague.

Officers confirmed that student was not allowed to attend school Wednesday and the student will not return until the investigation is complete.
