Person arrested in connection to series of BB gun shootings in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said Wednesday that a person was arrested in connection to a series of BB gun shootings in the city.

The 18-year-old, whose identity was not immediately released, is facing four simple assault charges and one felony assault charge, according to Maj. David Lapatin.

Police said a Splat gun was the weapon used in the series of shootings over the weekend.

Investigators believe the BB gun shootings are part of an ongoing TikTok challenge.

No further information was released.
