Man arrested after stabbing on Wickenden Street in Providence

A man was stabbed Wednesday outside a well-known Providence coffee shop not far from Brown University.    

The daytime stabbing happened at 11 a.m. near the Coffee Exchange on Wickenden Street.  

Police say when they arrived on scene, they found 39-year-old Daniel Nichols, of Cranston, outside the coffee shop with a female employee was holding a towel on his chest where he was stabbed.    

When asked by police who stabbed him, Nichols named Osama Said.

Nichols was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Said was later arrested by Johnston. He is charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon.
