Peter Farrelly: “RI shaped me and that’s why I thanked them first”
NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) – Rhode Islanders remember Peter Farrelly’s speech at the Oscars when he accepted the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, one of two Oscars he won that night for his film ‘Green Book’.
His first order of business – thanking the entire state.
We caught up with the Cumberland native on his first return to the area since that magical night. He and his brother Bobby and director Michael Corrente were at Jane Pickens Theater for the 20th anniversary screening of their film, ‘Outside Providence’.
ABC6 News Anchor Alana Cerrone tells us why – in Peter’s movie career – it’s not what you know, but who you know.
