Photos show flooding and damage in Newport caused by Tropical Storm Henri

Newport Police are encouraging everyone to shelter-in-place until the storm passes

The Newport Police Department said five roads are closed because of Tropical Storm Henri.

Newport, RI (WLNE) – The Newport Police Department sent out an advisory on Sunday to let people know that five roads are currently closed due to unsafe conditions.  Tropical Storm Henri is bringing rain and heavy winds to the area.

The closed roads are:

Ocean Drive

Memorial Boulevard

Parker Street

Wellington Area

Point Sections

Newport Police said more roads may have to close throughout the storm.  They recommend that everyone shelter-in-place and be alert for downed powerlines, flooded roads, debris and high tides.
