Pipe Manufacturer Brings Back From China, to RI
Quick Fitting Incorporated is bringing at least 200 jobs to the Ocean State.
“It gives me hope,” Heather Bonneau said. Bonneau, 24, has been looking for a job since December of 2010. She is one of the 10.9% of Rhode Islanders who are unemployed and still looking for a job.
Dave Crompton, Founder of Quick Fitting Incorporated, wants people like Bonneau to help his expanding business. His company is adding 200 jobs in Rhode Island.
“The biggest question I get is: Why Rhode Island? Rhode Island employees are phenomenal,” Crompton explained.
The pipe fitting manufacturer does everything from development, to testing, to packaging and shipping from its 40-thousand square foot facility in East Providence. They also have 5 manufacturing plants in China. Crompton says environmental laws make it too expensive to make their products here. When they developed a new push to connect fitting, they wanted it to be a “Made in the USA” product.
To make this move a success, Quick Fitting will add skilled and unskilled laborers. For the first time in a year and a half, Bonneau thinks she may have a shot.
“I don't have any experience, but they will train me,” Bonneau said.
Quick Fitting is seeking people to fill positions, including:
– Quality Control
– Shipping & Receiving
– Customer Service
– Machine Operators
