PLAINVILLE – This time of year is known as the season of giving, but for some, it’s the season for taking.

"My home was robbed three years ago, so personally I’ve had some experience with theft,” explained Melissa Campbell, Plainville’s Library Director.  Campbell knows what it feels like to have personal belongings swiped.  "I was pulling in the driveway as the person was leaving my house,” she said.

Thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of items. Some of which were sentimental and irreplaceable to her.  Because of the incident, she’s doing her part this holiday season to prevent similar thefts from happening to others.  The Plainville library is now serving as a safe place for package deliveries.  If you choose to ship your orders directly to the library, they will be taken inside and stored in a back room.

"We wanted to do this to give people a safe place and a trustworthy place to ship their packages. To make sure that doesn’t happen to them,” said Campbell.

"I think it’s a wonderful idea,” resident Susan Rolfe chimed in. “I think it’s great for Plainville and great for the library as well.”

All you need when you pick up your package is a library card for identification.
