Police: 15-year-old boy shot, killed overnight

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said a juvenile was shot and killed overnight.

Police said the shooting happened on Wallace Street just before midnight on Saturday.

There, officers found a 15-year-old boy shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homicide marks Providence’s 5th of 2022.

“Last night, Providence experienced a tragic loss when a teenage boy was shot and killed,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza in a statement Sunday.

“Our community mourns for his family, friends and our community who will all be impacted by this senseless act of violence. This matter is still under investigation and if anyone has any information regarding what happened, please contact the Providence Police.”
