Police arrest Fall River carjacking suspect

The Fall River Police Department arrested a man involved in a carjacking that took place on July 24th.

Paul A. Gagne, 37, of Fall River, was arrested for stealing a 66-year-old woman’s 2012 Kia Soul and then running over her arm as she tried to stop him.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

On July 26th around 9 AM, Officer Derek Amaral spotted the stolen Kia parked in the 400 block of Hope Street, Fall River.

The suspect tried to lose police and eventually abandoned the vehicle, fleeing on foot before being captured by police at the intersection of Second and Borden Streets. The Kia was found in a hidden driveway at the 100 block of Whipple Street.

Gagne is charged with multiple offenses along with Carjacking, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon on a Person Over 60, and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

He was also wanted for an unarmed robbery at the Low Price Convenience Store at 870 North Main Street in Fall River that took place on the 25th, where he made off with an amount of cash.

He was held on $50,000 bail until his arraignment some time today at the Justice Center Fall River.
