Police arrest Pawtucket man for molesting girl over four year span

Derrick Mauricio

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Police have arrested a Pawtucket man for four counts of First Degree Child Molestation and three counts of Child Molestation

Derrick Mauricio, 38, was taken into custody by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force Tuesday on an arrest warrant from East Providence Police.

In August, East Providence detectives were contacted by Boynton Beach Police Department in Florida about a juvenile female who had reported being sexually assaulted by Mauricio.

The victim told police that Mauricio had continually sexually assaulted her from 2013 to 2017 while she lived with her mother in Rhode Island.

After talking to the victim in Florida, with help from Boynton Beach police, sufficient evidence was collected to arrest Mauricio, police say.

Police believe there is a possibility that there may be other victims in Rhode Island and Florida.

If you believe you are a victim of an assault/molestation by Mauricio please call East Providence police at 401-435-7600.
