An arrest has been made in the murder of a Pawtucket man earlier this week.

Police say 21-year-old Matthew Marcotte stabbed 53-year-old William McKenna to death outside Sam’s Food Mart on Benefit Street Tuesday night.

McKenna was the younger brother of Rhode Island State Supreme Court Justice Maureen McKenna-Goldberg.

Pawtucket Police were able to identify Marcotte viewing his image on surveillance cameras.

The Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force had developed information that Marcotte may be staying in a Seekonk motel. He was later located in a Knights Inn on Mink Street.

He was charged as a Fugitive from Justice with Warrant Illegal Possession of a Firearm Illegal Possession of Ammunition by Seekonk Police. Once those charges have been resolved, Marcotte will be returned to Rhode Island where he will face a charge of First Degree Murder.

Marcotte will be arraigned in Taunton District Court Friday.
