Police continue investigation into unsolved murder in Cumberland
It’s been just over a year since 80-year-old Korean War Veteran Stanley Stowik was found dead inside his home on Indiana Avenue in Cumberland. Police say they recently received a tip on the unsolved murder, which led them to button hole golf course in Providence Monday. We’re told local and state police spent the morning scouring this entire area, coming up empty. They gave no specifics as to what they were looking for, but did say it was not a body.
Back in 2015, it was determined Stowik died from some sort of foul play. However, how it was done or who did it still unknown to this day.
This discovery comes just a month after Stowik’s family and friends offered a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed him. Anyone with information is asked to call Cumberland Police.
