TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Police have recommended that the six pit bulls that attacked a Taunton woman in the street in April be euthanized.

The owner of the dogs met with officials Tuesday morning to decide the fate of the animals that attacked Rochelle Silva on Broadway on April 24th.

Silva was walking her daughter’s small dog that evening when six pit bulls emerged from a home on Broadway and attacked her.

Silva suffered serious injuries, while the dog that she was walking was killed in the assault.

Taunton Police told ABC6 Tuesday that they issued a recommendation for the humane euthanization of the pit bulls following the hearing.

Police said they are not aware of any plans on behalf of the owner to appeal the decision.

The dogs have been held in quarantine since the initial incident.
