PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police on Tuesday identified the man who was seriously injured in a nightclub shooting last week.

Police said 30-year-old Angelo Gomez was shot multiple times outside of  Wonderland Gentlemen’s Club on April 1.

Security staff told officers that a fight broke out between two groups, which caused them to be kicked out of the club.

A dark colored SUV approached the group that stayed in the area before a person left the vehicle and shot Gomez several times, police said. The shooter then fled down Allens Avenue.

A person grabbed keys from the valet box before putting Gomez inside a gray BMW, Cmdr. Thomas Verdi told ABC 6 News .

Verdi said Gomez was dropped off at the emergency room before the driver left the BMW and fled the area.

Gomez suffered life threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Police said Wonderland Gentlemen’s Club has reopened.
