Police identify swimmer who died after being pulled from the water in Warwick

WARWICK, R.I (WLNE) – Warwick police identified the missing swimmer who died after he was pulled from the water at Conimicut Point on Saturday.
Police identified the swimmer as 57-year-old Joseph Gillespie of Auburn Massachusetts.
The Warwick Police department responded to a report of a missing swimmer at Conimicut Point at before 3:30 pm.
The Narragansett Bay Marine Task Force, with the Warwick Police Department’s marine units found Gillespie after a search that lasted over an hour was conducted.
Gillespie was transferred to shore and was transported to Kent hospital where he died shortly after.
