Police identify victim in deadly Warwick crash from Wednesday

WARWICK, R.I (WLNE) – The Warwick Police Department identified the victim in Wednesday’s deadly motorcycle crash.

The victim is identified as 77-year-old Warwick resident, Richard Willette.

Willette was riding his motorcycle when he left the roadway, traveled along the sidewalk, and then crossed all three lanes of traffic on West Shore Road.

He ultimately came to a stop in a wooded area at the corner of West Shore Road and Pearl Ave.

Police say Willette was being tended to by bystanders.

Willette was unresponsive upon the officers’ arrival.

He was transferred to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say speed, alcohol, and distracted driving were not factors in the accident, and it appears Willette suffered from a medical episode prior.
