Pawtucket Police are investigating after two men were injured in an alleged robbery attempt Sunday night.

Officers responded to the report of shots fired around 9:20 p.m. on Mendon Avenue. Upon arrival, they witnessed a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. When police attempted to pull the vehicle over, it would not stop, and made its way to Front Street. That’s where police observed the occupant throwing various items out the window.

Police then located the vehicle after it pulled into a parking lot nearby. There were no occupants and the doors were left open. One suspect was found in some underbrush at the bottom of a hill with a broken leg. Two other suspects were taken into custody for investigative purposes.

Police recovered various articles of clothing and a handgun on Front Street during the chase.

Two victims were injured in the robbery attempt. A 46-year-old male told police he was returning home with a relative when a silver vehicle pulled up to him while he was walking. Two men stepped out and demanded money from him before hitting him in the head with a handgun. He says he ran to his home and realized he had been shot in the hip. He was treated and released from the hospital.

A 50-year-old male was inside his residence nearby when he heard a loud "bang" against his house and realized he was struck by a projectile in the arm. He was treated and released from the hospital.

27-year-old Jonathon DosSantos, of Central Falls, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Additional charges may be sought pending further investigation.
