Police investigate stabbing in Providence

Providence police are investigating an attempted robbery that resulted in a stabbing Saturday night.

Police say a 28-year-old and a 25-year-old were stabbed in the chest area after 8 p.m. when they were approached by a suspect from behind who demanded money. It happened at the intersection of Cranston Street and Anthony Avenue.

A witness on scene told police the suspect was wearing a blue shirt and khaki pants at the time. The suspect fled the scene on foot towards Potters Avenue.

The two victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital and are expected to survive. 

Officials say no arrest have been made.
