Police investigating 2nd shots fired incident this week at same Providence home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning on Bowdoin Street. This is the second shots fired report at the home this week.

Saturday’s shooting happened around 6 a.m. Commander Thomas Verdi confirms officers found at least 17 shell casings near the front door of the home and more inside when they responded.

“Person(s) unknown from inside the house returned fire. The house was evacuated by patrol officers,” Cmmdr. Verdi stated in a preliminary report.

Verdi said the shootings seem to be gang-related.

Saturday’s shooting comes after 31 shots were fired into the same home on Thursday, Cmmdr. Verdi confirmed to ABC6.

The Providence FOP said in a tweet Friday that the shooting happened around 3 a.m. and the shots were fired into the home.

“An eleven-year-old described seeing a red laser shine through her window and shots going off moments later. Thankfully no one was injured,” the ‘public safety alert‘ wrote.

Police say no one was injured in either shooting.
