Police Investigating Apartment Shooting in North Providence

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) -North Providence Police are investigating an apartment shooting that happened early Thursday morning.

According to the Providence Journal, officers responded to the apartment complex on Winona Street around 2:00 A.M this morning.

Police say the suspect forced himself into the apartment and shot a man in the chest.

Police confirm the victim is James Coccia, 48.  He was conscious and alert when the police arrived.

Coccia is in stable condition and is expected to be released Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Police say the suspect and victims knew each other, and appears to be an isolated incident. Police say Coccia refuses to identify who shot him.
