PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Cranston man was arrested Thursday after threatening Mayor Jorge Elorza on social media.
59-year-old Bruce Valliere was arrested by Providence Place on charges of Threatening a Public Official and Disorderly Conduct.
Police said they were alerted to a Facebook post on Tuesday in which a suspect claimed Elorza would be walking with a limp if he encountered the suspect.
Valliere was arraigned Thursday afternoon in 6th Division District Court. He was released on $6,000 personal recognizance and issued a No Contact order.
Valliere is due back in court in May.
