PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police said they have arrested a man who’s accused of robbing the Cadillac Lounge Monday afternoon.

Jontay Goode, 30, is facing an armed robbery charge connected to the incident. He allegedly robbed the lounge before it opened, wearing a mask to disguise himself.

Owner of the lounge, Dick Shappy told ABC 6 News that the robber had a gun and demanded cash from a specific safe.

Shappy said $22,000 was taken from that safe and $3,500 from the lounge’s manager — most of it in $1 bills.

“As I’m facing the safe, I’m taking out some of the cash, it was loose cash and uh, a gun goes to my head and he says, ‘It’s a robbery,'” manager of the lounge, Eddi Imondi, told ABC 6 News.

Imondi said he believes the robber may have had information about the safe beforehand.

Providence police told ABC 6 News that a man resembling the suspect was seen at a Walgreens that afternoon.

Goode will be arraigned in Providence District Court.
