Police: Man arrested after bringing loaded gun to State House rally
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence police arrested a man for carrying a loaded gun during a rally outside of the State House Wednesday.
Police told ABC6 the man was carrying a 9mm handgun during a rally, where hundreds stood in solidarity to call for change after the killing of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
Daunte Wright, a Black man, was killed by a police officer during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.
Police said Dennis Torres, 32, of Riverside, was charged with possession of a firearm without a license. The arrest happened on Hayes Street just after 7 p.m., according to Commander Thomas Verdi.
