Police: Man shot in foot in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A man was hospitalized after being shot in the West End section of Providence Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Providence Police told ABC6 just before 3 p.m., officers responded to Dudley Street after a report of a shooting that allegedly happened near Arch and Gilmore Streets.

According to the police report, officers spoke with a 22-year-old man who said he was walking down Arch Street with a friend when a “black vehicle with heavily tinted windows approached both of them.”

An unknown man walked out of the car and fired two shots in the direction of the victim. The victim was stuck by a bullet in his right foot.

The victim told police the suspect got back in the car, and drove off in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by a friend.

According to Commander Thomas Verdi, police searched the vicinity of Arch and Gilmore Streets. Detectives are investigating and no arrests have been made at this time.
