Police: Man shot Saturday afternoon marking 6th shooting in 3 days

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence police are investigating a sixth shooting in three days Saturday.

Police tell ABC6 they were called to Union Avenue just before 3 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, told police he was sitting near his car when two unknown people came up the driveway and began shooting at the man.

The victim was hit in the buttocks area, jumped over a cement wall, and ran towards Alto Street.

Police said there were approximately 2-4 shots heard and one struck an Alto Street home.

Two witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw two people run towards Union Avenue and fled in a heavily tinted blue Honda with Georgia plates.

The victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital.

Providence Police are investigating.
