Two men have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
57-year-old Robert Perry and 53-year-old Lloyd Baker were arraigned on Wednesday.
Police say Perry coerced the teen into a vehicle near her West Warwick neighborhood back in August.
“He had actually lured her into the car through a dog. He had a dog in the car and he coerced her to come and pet the dog. He was very friendly at the time,” said Rhode Island State Police Captain Kevin O’Brien.
The teen told police she was with Perry for two days. She says he took her to several different areas in the state where Perry and Baker sexually assaulted her.
West Warwick, Coventry and State police worked together on this case.
“It was really through the success of the detectives collaborating that they were able to identify two unknown individuals,” said Captain O’Brien.
Now, as the word of what happened spreads, many around town are shaken by the news.
“It’s horrifying, small town community you wouldn’t think that something like that would take place here,” said Lisa Johansen.
Perry is being held without bail until a hearing later this month. Baker was held on $50,000 with surety.
Police are looking into the possibility that there could be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 401-444-1128.
