Police: Pawtucket man facing charges for throwing traffic cones at firefighters

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket police said they arrested a man who was accused of throwing traffic cones at firefighters and pedestrians Tuesday morning.

According to police, they responded to the area of Central Avenue between Fountain and Roosevelt Streets at approximately 11:40 a.m. to assist the Pawtucket Fire Department while they were on a call.

Officials said firefighters were met with a man who began throwing objects, including construction cones at them and other passing cars in the area.

Police said the man was also being confrontational and attempting to assault nearby pedestrians.

Officers were able to locate the man who they said appeared extremely intoxicated and arrest him.

The 38-year-old Pawtucket man was charged with disorderly conduct, vandalism and throwing objects at police or fire vehicles.
