CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police have arrested a registered sex offender after he was using a computer and gratifying himself at the Cranston Public Library.

Kyle Bento, 37, has been charged with one count of indecent exposure/disorderly conduct and a bail violator for being a Level II sex offender.

According to police, they were notified that Bento was using public computers at Cranston Public Library.

Detectives said their investigation determined that Bento was using the computers to look at images and videos of young girls, some of which the victims were committing lewd acts.

Police said Wednesday plain clothes detectives were watching Bento using one of the computers and the library and witnessed him looking at images of young females in bikinis.

Investigators said at that point Bento took out a small tube of lotion and began gratifying himself.

He was arrested on the spot and told detectives, “he would never do this again and that he would never come back here,” according to police.

He is being held without bail until his next scheduled hearing Oct. 6.
