Police release body cam footage of D.J. Hernandez arrest in Connecticut
BRISTOL, Conn. (WLNE) — Police in Bristol, Connecticut, released body camera footage of the arrest of Dennis “D.J.” Hernandez, brother of convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez.
D.J. was arrested on July 18 for allegedly making threats to plan shootings at Brown University and the University of Connecticut.
According to a police report, D.J. threatened to kill police when they were trying to arrest him at an undisclosed home in Bristol.
After a standoff, he came out of the back door of the house.
The footage shows D.J. approaching officers with his arms outstretched. He can be heard saying “shoot me.”
The details of the report include that someone told police D.J. is “extremely sick” and that his “mental health is continuing to deteriorate.”
Police said D.J. was charged with threatening and breach of peace. He was held on a $250,000 surety bond.
He is set to face a judge next Tuesday, according to online court records.
