Police release details on Johnston man indicted for murdering his wife
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Johnston police have released more details on the case which caused a grand jury to indict a Johnston man for killing a woman in 2022.
Chief Mark Vieira said that William Bailey is accused of killing his wife, Sara Unkuri, on Jan. 17 last year.
Vieira said that on that day officers responded to a call that there was a deceased woman on George Waterman Road.
Upon arrival, police identified the deceased as Unkuri, who was 35-years-old.
The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office then launched a suspicious death investigation, and identified two persons of interest, 37-year-old Bailey as well as Unkuri’s father, 58-year-old William Link.
Vieira said that the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment on June 30 of this year charging Bailey with one count of murder. Link was also charged with with one count of misprision of a felony.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, July 7.
