Bristol Hospital was locked down for about two hours Friday morning while police searched for a man who had called in a threat.

Police say the man called the hospital at about 3:45 a.m. saying he planned to shoot hospital staff and then himself.

Staff called police, who locked down the building and conducted a search.

They say the sweep of the building turned up no suspects and nothing suspicious.  No one was injured and the hospital was reopened at about 5:40 a.m.

Police remained on the scene to investigate.

Hospital officials say workers who were told to stay home during the police activity were later asked to report for work. They said surgeries and other appointments would go on as scheduled.
