Police search for man who stole car in Providence, robbed gas station in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Attleboro police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a car in Providence and then robbed a gas station in South Attleboro.

Attleboro Police Deputy Chief Timothy Cook Jr. said that around 11 a.m. a man entered the Mobil Gas Station on Newport Avenue, took out a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk gave the man the money, then fled in the direction of Collins Street in a silver Hyundai sedan.

Cook said the department learned that the car was previously stolen in Providence.

The suspect is described as “a Black male, wearing a mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.”

Cook said the investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information should contact Det. Joseph Daday at 508-222-1212.
