Police seize over 6 pounds of pot, arrest West Warwick man

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – A West Warwick man was arrested Saturday after Police seized over six pounds of marijuana, edibles, THC oils and Methadone from his car and home.

Christopher Whalen, 35, was arrested after a traffic stop for a speeding violation on Tiogue Avenue and a subsequent search of his vehicle resulted in Coventry Police locating over one pound of marijuana and 70 prepackaged THC edibles and oils.

Police also located $9,800 in U.S. Currency in the vehicle.

Whalen was taken into custody and transported to Coventry Police headquarters.

An additional search of Whalen’s Pawtuxet Terrace home by West Warwick Police uncovered over four pounds of marijuana, hundreds of prepackaged edibles, 99 Methadone pills, digital scales, ledgers and $34,541 cash.

Whalen faces the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
  • Driving in Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Methadone)

He will be arraigned Wednesday in Kent County District Court.
