PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE)– Police in Pawtucket said they were serving an arrest warrant Wednesday afternoon, related to an October 25 homicide in the city, when the suspect turned a gun on himself.

After gaining entry to a house on Lilac Street, police say they found the suspect in the bathroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The 24-year-old male, identified as Artur J. Debarros, later succumbed to his injuries at Miriam Hospital, Det. Sgt. Christopher LeFort said in a statement.

Police say Debarros was wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Julius Bell of Pawtucket.

That incident occurred near the Water Works Car Wash on Main Street, and had left neighbors badly shaken, with police investigating whether it was connected to an earlier fight between several people in the parking lot.
