Police warn of unexploded fireworks washing ashore on Massachusetts beaches
EDGARTOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — State Police said residents of coastal Massachusetts should be on the lookout after unexploded fireworks washed ashore on Thursday.
Officials said the explosives washed up onto Chappaquiddick Island on Wednesday and had to be removed from the beach by the State Police Bomb Squad.
Fire officials said unexploded fireworks can be extremely hazardous and anyone who sees any should call 911 to have them removed by professionals.
State police are requesting the special attention of Martha’s Vineyard residents and visitors in particular to keep an eye out for these undetonated display-pieces.
