Portsmouth Police arrest two on drug charges

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) – Two people were arrested in drug charges Friday in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Police said as the result of an investigation into heroin distribution in the Portsmouth area, detectives identified Cara Matthews, of Portsmouth, and Robert Langlais, of Fall River MA, as suspects.

Police said as a result of the investigation, Portsmouth Detectives, with the assistance of Middletown Police K-9 unit and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force executed a search of Matthews’ residence on Roger Williams Court.

According to Portsmouth Police the search revealed a significant amount of heroin and oxycodone pills as well as packaging materials.

Both Matthews and Langlais are facing multiple counts of manufacturing/possession and delivery of narcotics.

Police said both were ordered held without bail and transported to the ACI in Cranston.
