An amber alert for a Portsmouth teenager who went missing after getting into a vehicle with an older man has been cancelled.

Portsmouth Police assisted State Police in the search for the 13-year-old girl who was last seen leaving her neighborhood in a red Chrysler Sebring with a middle aged man.

Kathryn Botelho was last seen by neighbors near Ferry Landing Circle, where they say she willingly got into the man's vehicle.

The FBI said a man has been arrested in connection to the incident. His identity has not been released but he will be appearing in Federal Court in New Jersey on Thursday.

Sources say the girl has not yet returned to Rhode Island however she is physically okay.

The amber alert was cancelled around 1 a.m. when police say the girl was found safe. Police are expected to release more information later today.

The search began a little before noon on Wednesday.
