WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — Horseneck Beach in Westport closed on Monday after a Portuguese man o’ war was spotted.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation said dangerous ocean conditions, including hazardous rip currents, also prompted the beach closure.

The parking lot areas, however, will remain open to the public, said the department.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation said the water is expected to reopen to the public Tuesday morning after an “assessment of the water area.”
