Portuguese man o’ war spotted at South Kingstown Town Beach

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — An ABC 6 News viewer shared photos of another Portuguese man o’ war that was found on a beach in South Kingstown.

The photos show the small jellyfish-like creature beached ashore and then up close in a shovel before being removed.

This sighting comes just days after Portuguese men o’ war started showing up on Rhode Island beaches.

Officials said purple flags will be flown at state beaches to warn swimmers if there are men o’ war in the area.
