Posada Playing in the Field for the First Time This Season

Yankees start Posada at 1st; Teixeira to DH

BALTIMORE (AP) – New York Yankees' veteran Jorge Posada is
playing in the field for the first time this year.
New York's longtime catcher isn't behind the plate for
Thursday's game against Baltimore. He's playing first base while
Mark Teixeira is the designated hitter.
Manager Joe Girardi said he had this idea for several days.
Posada, who took himself out of the Yankees' lineup last Saturday
when Girardi put him in the ninth slot, is batting seventh.
The switch-hitting Posada is batting .179, but is 0 for 24
batting right-handed. The Orioles' starter is the right-handed Brad
Bergesen.
Posada says he's been taking ground balls at first and working
with batting coach Kevin Long. He says he's feeling better at the
plate. Posada played first base twice during spring training.
