Possible assault and kidnapping – Woonsocket Police

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Woonsocket Police are investigating a possible assault and kidnapping.

Currently police are searching for a car that was possibly involved.

At approximately 12:30 am Wednesday, officers received a call from someone claiming to have observed an assault and possible kidnapping near Elm Street and Chalapa Avenue.

The witness said that one man approached two other men on the sidewalk. The two men then assaulted the man who approached them.

All three then fled the scene in a white sedan.

The witness could not tell if the third person was forced in to the car or willingly went.

The car then sped from the scene. The witness proceeded to drive after them.

Deputy Chief Michael Lemoine stated, “The department did not receive any other calls regarding the incident and are working to try and find possible surveillance video to aid in the investigation. Officers informed area departments to be on the look out for an older model, white sedan of which a license plate was not identified.”
