Possible shark sighting in Westport shuts down Horseneck Beach

WESTPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — A possible shark sighting shut down swimming at beaches in Westport Wednesday.

According to Westport police, a lifeguard reported a possible shark sighting at Horseneck Beach Wednesday morning.

As a precaution, swimming was closed state and town beaches in town for the remainder of the day.

Officials said Massachusetts State Police did conduct a flyer over of Westport’s shoreline and no reported not seeing any sharks.

Officials will evaluate to determine if swimming will resume Thursday.
