Postal Carriers Delivering More than Mail
Postal carriers in Rhode Island delivered more than mail Saturday, they also delivered food for the hungry.
Saturday marked the 19th annual “Stamp out Hunger” day, sponsored by the United States Postal Service. The effort has become the largest single day food drive in the country, and has generated 3 million pounds of food in Rhode Island.
The food collection comes at a crucial time, because as summertime approaches, children do not have hot lunches or breakfast at school. That of course puts an extra strain on struggling parents, to try and feed their family.
