Providence Animal Rescue League hosts free adoption event

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Animal Rescue League hosted its “Hot Fur Summer” event on Saturday.
For the event, the organization waived adoption fees for all adult animals one-year-old or older.
Animals from both the Providence Animal Control and the league’s location on Elbow Street were available for adoption.
The league said it held a free adoption event to help find homes for as many animals as possible.
“The main goal of having a fee waived adoption event is to quickly send adoptable pets home that may otherwise remain in our care and available for adoption for many weeks or months,” it said.
Animal Care Technician Jacob Butler said that more than eight dogs had been adopted over the course of the event.
“For us, being a municipal shelter, is just more than anything we can ask for,” he said. “A day like today makes me feel like I’m doing my job.”
