PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A bus tunnel that runs under College Hill in Providence will be closed for maintenance, and several bus routes will be detoured.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority says the East Side Tunnel will be closed Saturday for routine maintenance and repair work.
Four bus routes that run through the tunnel will be detoured between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. They include Routes 1, 35, 78, and 92.
Outbound buses will work their way around the steepest part of College Hill, traveling up North Main Street to Olney Street, then back down to the Thayer Street end of the tunnel.
Inbound buses will instead use Angell and Steeple Streets to get down College Hill, picking up passenger at the Brown Bookstore.
